English- Writing

At Emmaus, we want children to be able to express themselves and communicate their ideas clearly.  We want them to acquire a wide vocabulary and an understanding of how grammatical structures contribute to meaning.    

We have been working on changing our approach to writing, so that sentence types and sentence structure is how we measure progress and attainment.  This is based on evidence from Ofsted's English Research Review (2022) and responds to the needs of the children.   

Our teaching staff have been working on a new assessment framework, a new teaching sequence and a new long-term plan.  These documents are currently working documents, which we will share when their implementation has been evaluated.
